Winders and
Hoists

Caliper brakes and sheaves are used on a variety of mine winders
and hoists including elevator applications.

90°, non-intersecting shaft applications

Smooth, quiet performance

Provide high-ratio speed reduction in minimal spaces

Efficiency is easily increased by lowering ratios

With some ratios, there is resistance to back driving

Low-speed holdback for conveyor head shaft mounting. Provides positive protection against reverse torque runaways of inclined conveyors and elevators.

Long service life

Taconite seals

Removable torque arm

Superior roller design

Bore ranges up to 600 mm

Torque ratings up to 1626 kNm

Modular disk brakes

800 kN Braking Force

On-site torque adjustment

“Park-off” facility for fast seal change without special tools

Infinite fatigue life even at 3mm air gap

Electronic monitoring

Mine ready robust design even pressure distribution across pads

Spring applied, hydraulic released modular safety brakes

230 kN Braking Force

On-site torque adjustment

“Park-off” facility for fast seal change without special tools

Infinite fatigue life even at 3mm air gap

Electronic monitoring

Mine ready robust design even pressure distribution across pads

The G-Flex Series is an all-metal coupling that provides positive protection against the damaging effects of shock loads and vibration. Aluminum horizontal cover (T10), and all-steel vertical cover (T20) designs are available. G-Flex tapered grid couplings are an excellent choice where torsional flexibility/vibration damping are primary concerns.

Easy to assemble / replace

Part-for-part interchangeable with industry standard tapered grid coupling designs

Coupling sizes 1020 through 1140 in-stock in a range of standard bore sizes

Shot-peened tapered grid flex element for long life

TB Wood’s offers a full line of sheaves and drives to meet your specific application requirements.

Form-Flex metal disc couplings consist of two hubs, a spacer and two high strength carbon or stainless steel flexible discs. Modified and special designs are commonly supplied to meet specific application conditions. Available in carbon steel, stainless steel or with corrosion resistant coatings.

No maintenance

Zero backlash

Close couple, spacer and floating shaft designs available

Easy interchangeability

GC Series couplings feature unitized, straight-sided flexible discs for ease of installation. Up-to-date design targeted specifically for heavy industrial applications. These couplings provide increased torque capacity per size by taking advantage of the latest materials and design technologies.

Unitized Flex Packs

Easier, faster installation

Interchangeable with industry standard designs

Fewer sizes to cover a full range of applications

Reduced spare parts inventory

Lower total cost of ownership

Special designs avaiable for higher-torque applications

These brakes are widely used in winch and mining applications. Series 56P brakes are designed for dynamic breaking with oil in the disc-pack chamber. They can also be used dry when high holding torque is required.
  • Spring-applied, ensuring automatic braking in the event of a power failure
  • All working parts are enclosed, suitable for external mounting, even in unfavorable environments
  • Porting available for flow-through cooling oil to provide greater heat dissipation
  • External mounting to shaft ends facilitates retro-fitting to existing machinery
  • End plate can be bored to suit through-shaft installations
  • Multi-disc design results in compact high torque brake
  • Only the hub and inner plates rotate, minimizing rotational inertia
